As Top Scholar’s enrolment numbers rose and digital offerings expanded, their existing LMS infrastructure began to feel… well, a few sizes too small. They needed more than just storage and uptime. They needed peace of mind—something that could scale during peak periods like exam rushes and training seasons, and then contract again without waste.
So the challenge was clear: design a hosting plan and support structure tailored to a growing institution with seasonal spikes in user demand, storage needs, and administrative complexity.
Custom Tools, Dashboards and More
Pukunui’s partnership with Top Scholar came with some robust groundwork. We kicked off by rolling out a Moodle hosting plan tailored for institutions that need more than just the basics—without diving into enterprise infrastructure territory. Remote backups, support access, plugin installation, and current-version Moodle™ software deployment came standard. We installed a curated mix of freely available Moodle™ plugins (including Zoom, Attendance, and the popular Custom Certificate) to add richer functionality from day one.
Next came the data. Education providers love data—until they have to make sense of it. To help admins and educators access the right insights, we developed two custom reports:
- One focused on H5P quiz performance, tracking everything from login ID to score history across attempts.
- The other was tailored for assignment-level reporting by non-editing teachers—complete with grading timeliness and feedback logs.
Both reports were built using Moodle’s Configurable Reports plugin, giving their admin team direct, filterable access to insights that mattered most. There’s something oddly satisfying about reports that just work.

This gave them enough space for course content, media uploads, H5P interactions, and student data—without investing in capacity they didn’t need long-term.
Moodle™ Training and Branding that Fits the Mission
Great tools are only as good as the hands that use them, so we bundled in three days of training. Delivered onsite in Kuala Lumpur, these sessions covered everything from LMS training to consultancy. Sometimes the answer to an issue wasn’t always, “Try turning it off and on again.”
Pukunui’s design team executed LMS branding at no additional cost, echoing Top Scholar’s identity via customised colours, logos, and layout. For that extra flair, we added a premium Moodle theme—fully installed, configured, and tailored to their unique brand. Since deployment began in 2023, Top Scholar has enjoyed a well-oiled Moodle™ environment that responds swiftly to dynamic academic needs.
